» Good words screen not a head…..Adopt a roof! « • THE PROJECT Massimo is a member of O.M.G. - Operazione Mato Grosso - - he is from Delebio (North Italy - Province of Sondrio) Valtellina He decided to leave for Peru as a laical Missionary 
He's doing his job in Peru since 2003: he follows boys and girls who come to San Luis Church ,they are called " oratoriani" (from Oratory). He teached them how to buid roofs and repair houses for people much more poor than them such as women with children and without husband, old people. Roofs are realized by more than 700 oratoriani who works for free on Saturdays for people more poor than them. In Peru the climate is divided in two classical seasons, one part of the year is dry and the other part is rainy. Roofs of the poor houses (we call them houses but they don't really look like our way of thinking about houses) are made with straw and during the rainy season they usually fall causing lot of problems to persons (usually many in small place) living in there. The project "Adopt a roof" comes out from a Massimo's idea to involve his family and friends and to make them understand all the problems he has when poor people ask him for help and for a new roof. He wrote us :"many NO could become YES with your help" ADOPT a ROOF! How it happens... For the adoption of a roof you have to make a donation of 300/400$ to boys that will build the roof starting from more poor people on the peruvian mountains Ande in the region of Chacas ( SAN LUIS and pleaces around there). You'll know exactly what they spent for a new house or roof. Massimo will send to Italy the pictures of all houses and roofs realized,which will be showed on www.adottauntetto.com. When possible the pictures will show the state of the roof before the works start and after being rebuilded. All of you who decide to adopt a roof will have his own personal project..you'll know the story and persons who will be living under the new roof. On your request your names, pictures, story or messages will be pubblished on the web site. Massimo's project is going on in DEPARTAMENTO DE ANCASH, in a small village called SAN LUIS near Chacas.
